We believe that the family is central to the creators plan for the eternal destiny of His children . . . We further believe that strengthening and maintaining the family is of utmost importance. For us, Heaven only exists if families are eternal.
Gods greatest joys and His greatest grief come from his children. We reflect often the words of grandfather W.C. Christensen (1875-1962) who often said when in the presence of his children and grandchildren — "This is Real Joy!"
We also believe that our connection to our ancestors, our past generations, gives a sense of stability and belonging. Our family history is important to us . . .
David recently retired from BYU-Idaho after serving on the faculty for 22 years and continues to be associated with the university as Adjunct Faculty. The university has a rich heritage dating back to 1888. It is a private institution, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has become one of the most exciting universities in the world. It extends its influence to not only its 17,000 plus resident students on a three semester track system, but to thousands more assembled in clusters on-line throughout the world. Its extraordinary leaders are moving it forward in re-thinking and even re-defining higher education. You are invited to browse the university website.
David and Deena are devout members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many call us 'Mormons'. Our belief in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost are among our most basic beliefs. We believe the Bible to be the word of God and consider it a foundation of our personal beliefs. We also believe the Book of Mormon (a record of early inhabitants and prophets of the American Continent covering a period from about 2200 B.C. to approximately 400 A.D.) to be the word of God. These two books bless our lives and bring us closer to God. We believe in continuing revelation; that God has not left us alone— but rather gives us prophets in our day to guide, direct, encourage and warn us against evils which can destroy us spiritually.
